The library serves over 70 lawyers, articling students, and courthouse officials in Northumberland County.
Members may borrow circulating volumes for up to 3 weeks. Other items may be borrowed at the discretion of the librarian. Interlibrary loan is available upon request.
The Law Association of the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham was formed in 1924 to provide and maintain a county law library and to promote the general welfare and interest of the legal profession in the said counties. The associations name changed to the Northumberland County Law Association (NCLA) in 1976.
The library is located in the upper level of the Cobourg Courthouse. There is a lawyers lounge with coffee machine available in the library, and there is a DVD player, projector and screen available for viewing continuing legal education replays. The Library has word processing, printing, and faxing capabilities. The lounge area and entire library is wireless.
