The Hastings County Law Association appointed their first library assistant, Lily Garghan, in 1976. Prior to that date, the library functioned through the combined efforts of lawyers who volunteered their services to manage the collection. In 1990, the HCLA was incorporated, officers were appointed and the library was fixed as the registered office for the corporation.
The law library is situated two floors down from Family Court at Century Place, Belleville. The library provides seating space for seven and includes study carrels and three work stations.
