Employment Standards

System-Wide Personnel Classification

LibraryCo has developed generic job descriptions for the library staff positions in the association law libraries as follows:

Model Employment Contract

LibraryCo has developed a Model Employment Contract for use by the associations. It was adopted by the Board on September 11, 2009 and reviewed in 2012. Associations are expected to use it with all new hires. It does not apply to existing employees.

Benefits Advice Form

A new procedure has been created to assist the county and district law libraries in advising the Law Society of Upper Canada of any changes (such as new hires, terminations, salary changes, changes to hours of work, etc.) to employment that affect benefits. A Benefits Advice Form must be completed by the employee (or by the administrator if applicable) and submitted to the Human Resources Department at the Law Society of Upper Canada. Any further benefit changes will not be accepted without the completed form(s) and signatures. Please note that each form requires the signature of the association president.
